- Free and legal music downloads! The Freegal Music Service consists of content licensed from Sony Music Entertainment. The Freegal site has hundreds of thousands of songs and is continually updated with new material.
- Download 3 songs a week. Your counter will reset every Monday. The library has an overall weekly limit. If the library runs out of downloads for the week, you can go to “My Wishlist” in the upper right corner and queue up for future music.
- Your library account must be in good standing (account balance under $5.00, card not expired). More info...
- The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM. This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs.
Helpful hints
- How do I download? When you are ready to download a song, click the "Download Now" link, select Save at the prompt, then designate where you want to save the song. Downloads will count towards your weekly total even if you cancel.
- Having trouble finding your artist/band? Bands that begin with "The" will be located under the letter "T". Artists who use their whole name will be located under the first letter of their first name, "John Mayer" is located under the letter "J".
- My download was incomplete! If you experience a problem with your download, Freegal allows you to download again without affecting your weekly download limit. Just go to “Recent Downloads” in the upper right corner and re-try the download up to 2 additional times.

A current VCPL library card and pin code are required. Downloadable media services are not available if the amount due on an account exceeds $4.99 or the card has expired. Cards expire every three years and need to be updated in person at your local branch.
