Federal Depository Resources

Daytona Beach Regional Library on City Island is a Depository for Federal Documents with a selection of documents focused on the needs of the County. The depository library receives 27 percent of Federal Government items.

Government Documents include books, pamphlets, CDs, DVDs, microfilm and websites.

Most books, magazines ,paper documents and microfiche are located on the shelves in the alcove to the East of the Fiction Section in the library at City Island and are arranged by Government Document (SuDoc) Numbers. Government CDs and DVDs are housed in the Government Documents office. Ask at the Periodicals Window or at the Reference Desk for Assistance.

As directed by Congress, the primary method of making publications available to the Federal Depository Library Program is the Internet . Government websites, selected by the depository, are available from any Internet computer. To use the resources on a library computer, you will need a library card. If you do not have a library card, please ask at a library service desk for a free temporary access visitor pass.

Government websites, selected by the depository, are available from any Internet computer. Thousands of government websites are cataloged in Surfcat. To search for recent online Government documents, after July 2009, go to Surfcat, the library's online catalog, and select the "online Government Documents" tab. Earlier depository websites-- (over ten thousand arranged by Sudoc Number) may be accessed on a database report listing (All Documents) --or-- Documents in Spanish only . This site also contains information on tangible items received by the depository since 2006.

Basic Collection

Publications included in the Basic Collection are vital sources of information that support the public's right to know about the workings and essential activities of their Federal Government. The Basic Collection serves as a good resource when developing and maintaining a depository collection.
