Internet Safety Policy

The Volusia County Public Library System is committed to providing Internet access to the public, without charge, in so far as our resources permit.

Provision of this networked information service does not constitute any endorsement of the content of that information by the Volusia County Public Library System.
The Volusia County Public Library cannot guarantee that information found through the Internet is either accurate, authoritative, or factual.
Filters that protect against obscenity, child pornography or materials harmful to minors are in operation. They may be disabled for bona fide research or other lawful purposes.
For the safety and security of minors when using e-mail, chat rooms and other forms of direct electronic communication, a Safe Surfing Guide is provided below:
Child Safety on the Information Highway

Parents or guardians who wish to limit or restrict the access of their own children should personally oversee their use of the Internet.
Access by minors to inappropriate matter on the Internet and World Wide Web is regulated. Filters are on computers located in the children's sections.
In providing public access on the Internet, the Volusia County Public Library subscribes to and fully supports the principles of intellectual freedom laid out in the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read Statement.
