Community Assistance

The purpose of the division is to improve the quality of life for Volusia County residents. Staff coordinates and develops the various community services of federal, state, and local agencies along with county residents for more efficient utilization and delivery of community resources.

Health Services

The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County is a partnership between Volusia County Government and the State of Florida. Its mission is to promote, protect, maintain and improve the health and safety of Volusia County residents and visitors. The county and the state provide funding and facilities to care for our citizens.

Law Library

The Volusia County Law Library provides the resources to meet the legal information needs of the citizens of Volusia County. The Law Library provides meaningful access to legal information resources and services and is an essential, effective and integral part of the community.

In partnership with the Law Library, Volusia County Public Libraries host legal research computers at the following branches: Deltona Regional, Ormond Beach Regional, and New Symrna Beach Regional. These branches are not staffed by Law Librarians and the research computers are self-service only.

Veterans Services

The Veterans Services Division provides U.S. Armed Forces veterans and their dependents assistance in obtaining earned benefits. Veterans are counseled on the rules and regulations governing benefits and providing follow-up action as required.

State

Florida Department of Children and Families (Access Florida/DCF)

The Department of Children and Families, Economic Self Sufficiency Program has several programs that can help Florida families. They include Food Assistance, Temporary Cash Assistance, Medicaid and Refugee Assistance. Each of these programs has its own eligibility rules, but you may apply for any (or all) of these programs at one time using the same application.

Reemployment Assistance Service Center

The Reemployment Assistance program provides temporary, partial wage replacement benefits to qualified workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. It is funded solely by employers who pay federal and state payroll taxes and is provided at no cost to the workers who receive the benefits.

CONNECT provides online access for claimants to apply for benefits, view and maintain claimant account information, view claim status and payments, view overpayment balance and make payments.

An online database that provides information to residents looking for assistance with daily needs, housing, healthcare, transportation, and employment. Categorizes services from local non-profit organizations and puts them into an easy to navigate catalog.
